Dear Change Agent subscribers and supporters,

The pandemic has forced us all to re-tool so much about our work and personal lives, and The Change Agent is not getting a pass.

Our big news is that there will be no print edition of the magazine this coming year and possibly ever again. It just makes no sense to make hard copies of a magazine when programs are not even on hand to receive shipments, much less pass out copies in class.
So starting with the "Pandemic" issue, the magazine will be all online. Recognizing the shift to distance learning,  The Change Agent was already developing online activities. Now, we plan to make those even more robust and easy to use and access. We regret losing the print edition, and we know many of you and your students will miss it. But we are excited about next steps and new developments, including:

  • a library of short video tutorials about how to use  The Change Agent online and how to use the content to teach to certain key standards
  • more lesson packets that incorporate online audio versions of articles and the "comment" feature attached to articles
  • automated subscriber function, allowing you to purchase and gain immediate access to all our materials
  • new opportunities for your program to contract with us for targeted professional development
We think these upcoming changes will meet the needs of teachers and students as we all go forward into COVID-driven move to all virtual teaching.
One thing that hasn't changed: each issue of the magazine is full of powerful, student-written content that is relatable and engaging, and the activities we develop support the teacher to teach basic skills in the context of relevant and moving texts.
While the look and feel may be different. The essence of what we provide is not -- classroom-ready materials that address topics that matter to students, written by their peers.
To subscribe or renew, please click here. The cost for individual teachers is $30 per teacher per year. Teachers can share their online access with all their students. If you want to buy a bulk online subscription (more than 25 teachers), the price goes down to $20 per teacher. Please contact us at for more information.

If you are halfway through your paper subscription (in other words, we still owe you one more copy), we will convert your subscription to an online one, so you can access PDFs of the forthcoming issue, as well as all the back issues. The online subscription will expire in six months. We will reach out with additional details soon.

We hope everyone who reads this is holding up well under these challenging circumstances. No one is unscathed; everyone is adapting. And The Change Agent is evolving with the times in order to continue (and better) meet the needs of adult learners and teachers.
Thank you and stay safe.
The Change Agent
